Jornadas Colombinas

The Colombinas Festivities, held in September, are an event full of activities including exhibitions, concerts, conferences, theatre and sporting events. These festivities commemorate the departure of Christopher Columbus from La Gomera to the New World, this being the last port where the caravels were refuelled and where the water that baptised America was collected. It is an occasion to honour the island's historical connection with the discovery of America and to enjoy various cultural and sporting events.
