The municipality of Alajeró celebrates one of its most deeply rooted traditions: the festival in honor of San Isidro Labrador. The event takes place at Montaña de Tagaragunche, also known as “El Calvario,” where the small chapel housing the images of the saint and of Santa Lucía is located. This celebration, marked by popular devotion and the memory of old promises linked to agricultural life, includes a mass, a procession accompanied by chácaras and drums, and a lively open-air dance. Montaña de Tagaragunche, considered a possible sacred site by the ancient inhabitants of La Gomera, offers one of the most breathtaking views in the municipality, with vistas of the ocean, the Fortaleza de Chipude, and on clear days, the Alto de Garajonay.
