Between forests and orchards

La Gomera

Circular Juego de Bolas

Embark on a demanding route that starts in the heart of the Garajonay forest and descends over red crests and deep ravines until the suspended viewpoint of Abrante. Pedal across dirt tracks and asphalt, pass through palm groves and terraces clinging to the hillsides, and ride the ridge that separates Hermigua and La Palmita, with dizzying views of the ocean and of the Teide. An epic wheeled experience in one of the most spectacular zones of La Gomera.

Itinerary

The route begins at the Juego de Bolas Visitor Centre, ideal for discovering the laurel forest of Garajonay National Park. From there you descend toward the spectacular Mirador de Abrante, suspended above Agulo with Teide in the background. Following the road, you’ll pass by the La Palmita Dam, one of the island’s historic reservoirs. The route climbs up La Palmita ravine to Serpa, the boundary between monteverde forest and terraced agricultural landscapes. From there you take a dirt track that traverses cliffs and eroded slopes, offering contrasts of vegetation and panoramic views. The highlight is the Punta de Agulo Viewpoint, overlooking Agulo, Hermigua and the Majona Natural Park. The return is via the same path, with recommended stops in La Palmita and its viewpoints before arriving back at Juego de Bolas, the start and end point of this perfect circular route for MTB and gravel.
