La Gomera's bon-bon

In the north of La Gomera just over half an hour's drive from the capital you will arrive in a town which, for its pretty aspect, has become known as the bon-bon of La Gomera. This is Agulo, a large natural viewing point covered by the green of its crops and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a charming town that is beautifully cared for, with cobbled stones and restored, well-maintained story-tale houses. A town of charming streets with views over Tenerife

The best way to visit Agulo is to park your car and walk through the town centre, using the information panels on the streets as your guide. They will fill you in on the singularities of Agulo. The delightful church of San Marcos with its white spires is a stark contrast to the red roofs of the houses, and the views of Tenerife and the majestic Mount Teide add extra value to a town where you can breathe in the essence of La Gomera.

- Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
- Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
- Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
- Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
- Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
